Post-Election Pump Me Up Playlist

If you’re like me, last Tuesday’s results hit hard. However, I’m listening to Mr. Current Prez by taking my week to grieve and then preparing to work so that in 2020, we can elect a President who reflects the core American values of equality, optimism, hard work ethic, service, community, inclusiveness, and tolerance. But don’t get me wrong, there’s a lot we can do now at a grassroots level to increase exposure, engagement, and empathy with those who seem different from us. I’m definitely not about to let my global education snd experiences go to waste. It’s just time to use them to better my own country.

In the meantime, I’ve been jamming to some tunes to help keep the energy and motivation up. Maybe this is the kick in the pants we needed? How can you employ what you’ve learned abroad to make your own country greater than it already is?

Be empowered. Give back. Empower others.

SO, in no particular order, here’s my playlist…

1. “You Gotta Be” – Des’ree

2. “Ain’t Giving Up” – Craig David and Sigala

3. “American Oxygen” – Rihanna

4. “The Greatest” – Sia f/ Kendrick Lamar

5. “Just Like Fire” – P!NK

6. “This One’s for You” – David Guetta f/ Zara Larsson

7. “Fly” – Nicki Minaj f/ Rihanna

8. “Fight the Power” – Public Enemy

9. “Whole Heart” – Gryffin and Bipolar Sunshine

10. “Without You” – David Guetta f/ Usher

11. “On Top of the World” – Imagine Dragons

12. “The Show Goes On” – Lupe Fiasco

13. “Go the Distance” – Michael Bolton

14. “This Is How We Do It” – Montell Jordan

15. “Safe and Sound” – Capital Cities

Stay tuned for some ways in which you can globalize your communities to spread understanding and empathy!
